Pelvic Health

During this lecture, the main topics are pain during pregnancy, urinary incontinence, and pain with intercourse.

Pain in Pregnancy - Is it inevitable? Pregnancy offers a unique physical challenge to women, resulting in incredible changes to both her anatomy and physiology. While it makes sense there may be a deal of discomfort involved, too often women who are pregnant have their complaints of pain dismissed. While back and pelvic girdle pain are very common, it should not be considered a 'normal' or inevitable part of pregnancy. There are many things that a woman can do during her pregnancy to minimize or eliminate her pain! This video covers common complaints of pain during pregnancy, as well as a framework to help these women regardless of your practice setting.

Urinary Incontinence: Manage? Treat? Cure? Urinary incontinence affects 1in 3 women at some point in their lives. While women are affected much more frequently, urinary incontinence impacts men as well. Regardless of your setting, you ARE seeing people with urinary incontinence and there is MUCH that can be done to treat, and even cure, urinary incontinence. This video will cover some startling facts about urinary incontinence, as well as what you can do to help people suffering from any degree of urinary incontinence.

Pain with Intercourse: Is this pain 'different' than pain with other activities? Pain with intercourse is understandably distressing and can have a negative effect on the lives of the people suffering from the pain, as well as the lives of their partners. While much has been learned about pain over the last 20 years, pain with intercourse is often brushed aside or minimized. Regardless of gender, orientation, or sexual preferences, pain during intercourse should be assessed and can be treated. This video will address some of the issues that make pain during intercourse a challenge for healthcare practitioners to help anyone suffering from painful intercourse find the help they need.
